Several local child care providers have applied for EC Alleghenies’ $1,000 mini-grants to help them open new facilities, expand to serve more members of their communities, or purchase necessary supplies and equipment. The mini-grants are available to new or expanding child care providers in Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fayette, Somerset, and Westmoreland counties.
The Legacy Learning Center in Uniontown, PA used the mini-grant to acquire items that would enable them to open their new facility. “We were able to buy supplies that were needed prior to receiving our initial inspection. We mainly paid for any and all items out of our own pockets so the mini-grant was definitely a little relief for us,” said Beth Fugozzotto, one member of the organization’s partnership.
Michele Fochtman, the owner of Top-Notch Prep Academy, LLC, utilized her mini-grant to secure the safety of the children she cares for in Somerset, PA. “This funding will significantly aid in installing surveillance cameras and door security systems at our facility,” said Fochtman. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude for any assistance as I strive to support families in facilitating early education for their little ones.”
Home Helpers Child Care in Trafford, PA purchased new furniture and equipment to improve their operations. “I am so fortunate that this program reached out to our location. The entire team made getting the mini-grant so easy,” said Amanda Creps, the center’s director. “I will recommend them to all my provider colleagues. Thank you for helping change these children’s lives.”
